Mario Bemer Firenze – Bespoke footwear
Mario Bemer is a synonym of excellence in the world of bespoke footwear, a brand that, in only twenty years, has been able to make itself known and acknowledged on an international scale for the utmost quality of its hand-crafted shoes.
For this reason, the premium activities comprised in the Experience entitled “An unforgettable week playing golf in the heart of Tuscany”, the golfing holiday in Tuscany that combines golf played on the splendid courses at the Poggio dei Medici Golf Club, Le Pavoniere Golf & Country Club and the Ugolino Golf Club with an itinerary in pursuit of the best local artisanal traditions, had to include an exclusive visit to the Mario Bemer craft workshops.
The history of the Mario Bemer brand began in 1982 with Stefano Bemer in a small workshop in Greve, located in the Chianti region, and which continued, with Mario Bemer himself, who joined his brother in the new workshop in the historical city centre of Florence in 1999.
Deeply rooted in the most noble tradition of Florentine craftsmanship, the Bemer brothers soon developed a broader international vision, leading them to propose their own “tailor-made” solutions on overseas markets, starting with Japan, a nation renowned for its predilection for all that is custom-made. They opened their first flagship store in Tokyo, acclaiming immediate success, showcasing a ready-to-wear line of items that set new standards of excellence in the prêt-à-porter sector.
In 2012, the untimely death of Stefano Bemer was a massive blow, yet in 2014, Mario decided to establish a new collaboration with Luca Nardini, founding “Mario Bemer Firenze”, a footwear project pursuing the traditional and “bespoke” line of products.
A “Mario Bemer Firenze” shoe is anything but ordinary, footwear that stylish yet is able to distinguish itself from its competitors for its sublime elegance and exquisite sophistication, a timeless accessory of great flair. In order to give a foretaste of the quality of these items, it is enough to know that the shoe is created exclusively by following the guidelines of a Goodyear welted shoe, the only footwear construction technique that allows the complete regeneration of the shoe every time the customer so wishes.
The arrival of Nardini marked the beginning of a creative transformation that opened up towards a more innovative market perspective with the aim of disseminating the Florentine hand-crafted footwear culture and, at the same time instilling a new creative energy into it, consisting of unusual colours and combinations of precious materials while remaining faithful to traditional tailoring processes, such as the elegant, rigorously hand-sewn double stitching.
A new path has led to the enterprise to conquer Japan, China, Korea alongside the Ukraine, Arab countries and Norway as well as reaching the United States market, attracting an increasing number of young yet extremely demanding customers, who both appreciate and seek footwear with a traditional construction, yet do not intend to forego a fresh, creative style, without losing sight of good taste and elegance.
Therefore, painstaking attention is not only paid to tradition, in fact, since 2017, when Luca Nardini took over the business, this new pathway has been completed and the new corporate vision in which the most authentic Florentine tradition of craftmanship has becomefully structured, blending creative innovation with technological progress. Today, Mario Bemer Firenze creates bespoke footwear that is intended to be both fashionable and flexible, not only in its structure, but also in its style, so as to satisfy every customer’s personal tastes.
