A week discovering Lake Garda hills
«Tonight, I could have reached Verona, but I would have let escape a marvel of the nature, an enchanting sight, Lake Garda; I did not want to miss it, and I was beautifully rewarded for this diversion. ” – Wolfgang Goethe, Journey to Italy, 12 September 1786.
Two and a half centuries have passed since the writing of that famous sentence. Today I can assure you that Lake Garda is, if possible, even more beautiful.
Of course, when Goethe passed through, nature was predominant, but compared to the German author, today the tourist can enjoy a greater advantage: staying in a territory magically transformed into a kingdom of hospitality.
Here Italy4Golf has designed for you an unforgettable week of pure Italian experience, golf rounds and enogastronomic tours to be experienced in a careful selection of prestigious destinations. A golf trip capable of stimulating all the senses and testing the golfer’s skill, always moving from the same location. You will open your suitcase on the arrival and never close it again, until the day you always hope will never arrive … time to fly home.
Light, colors, Mediterranean climate always ventilated in a basin protected to the north by high peaks and moved to the south by the morainic hills, they are the natural miracle that man has shaped to obtain vineyards and olive tree, lemon and citrus groves that allow tourists to find the flavors of most of the world in a single environment.
What are you saying… Golf? An excellent question, to which the Garda answers by surrounding its banks with golf courses. Sport, fun and relaxation are guaranteed!
In the Italy4Golf program “A week on Lake Garda” there is room for knowledge. Rich in history, culture and traditions, the lands of Lake Garda are also famous for some of the best Italian wines. With the help of our guide and local sommeliers, you will visit wonderful places on the eastern shore of the lake, with tastings of wines, extra virgin olive oil and local specialties in selected cellars and restaurants.
Chervò Golf Club San Vigilio
27 holes championship course divided into three paths: Benaco par 36, Solferino par 36 and San Martino par 35. On the first two was held the 77° Italia Open in 2020.
For the lovers of pure technique, there are 9 additional executive holes – each one par 3 – that allow pro and amateur to play short game and improve approach and putting, as well as helping the beginners.
The Chervò San Vigilio Golf Club hosted the latest, 77th, Italian Open.
At San Vigilio you can play on different courses every time, thanks to the generous dimensions of the area, that permit greenkeepers to vary at will the consistency of the roughs, and thanks to the presence of many water hazards , with an abundance of wide bunkers both on the side of the green and in insidious points along the fairways.
Gardagolf Country Club
Hard not to know, at least for fame, since it hosted three editions of the Italia Open (1997, 2003, 2018). With its three paths surrounded by a unique ecosystem, according to experts
, Gardagolf is one of the best golf courses built in the last decades. Realized in an area of more than 110 hectares, it is signed by Cotton, Pennick, Steel & Partners, excellent in creating 27 demanding holes without modifying the existing geological structure and taking advantage of every glimpse of an amazing panorama.
The result? A challenging but not impossible course, able to entertain players of every skill level.
Gardagolf Country Club offers a challenging route inserted in a panorama of extraordinary beauty..
Franciacorta Golf Club
With this stop, Italy4Golf brings golf tourists closer to Lake Iseo. In a valley rich in water and vegetation, the designers of the Franciacorta Golf Club – architects Pete Dye and Marco Croze, have created a true sports oasis between woods and vineyards.
The course engages the player on slopes shaded by centuries-old trees in a park rich in ponds and panoramic views, capable of relaxing between one green and the next. Alongside the first eighteen holes, named Brut and Satèn in honor of local wine productions, were later added the nine Rosè, challenging addition to the golfer who never gets tired.
Over the years, the Franciacorta Golf Club has hosted many national and international tournaments.
Chervò Golf Hotel SPA & Resort
For your stay, from which you are going to leave for the different stages of the golf trip, Italy4Golf has selected the Chervò resort, thanks to its centrality to the places you are going to visit. Several times winner of awards and recognitions, this place is an interesting mix of tradition and modernity.
The architecture of the Hotel is inspired by the original complex, the Abbey of San Vigilio, founded in 1104. The designers have managed to create an ideal continuity between the recovery of the existing buildings and their expansion, which has increased the receptive capacity of the resort, respecting the surrounding environment.
Wherever you move, gardens, fountains, ornamental plants and walkways made of local stone decorate large spaces for relaxation surrounded by nature.
Hotel San Vigilio offers 132 finely furnished rooms, some with fireplaces, private balconies or terraces and all of them are personalized with different colors of delicate fabrics to make each stay unique and special.
You can swim every day in the indoor pools and enjoy the SPA, choosing from the many wellness treatments and the most suitable program to reinvigorate and regenerate yourself in the splendid scenery of the golf course and the ancient Benedictine Abbey of San Vigilio.
Food and Wine itinerary
A respectable golf holiday must combine fun on the course with the culture of well-being. For this reason, the Italy4Golf staff has chosen for you a tour of enogastronomic experiences that begins in Bardolino, on the oriental hills of Lake Garda, with the tasting of local wines and EVO oil. Destination: one of the most famous wine cellars in the area, expert in welcoming wine lovers from all over the world.
Afterward, art and culture ask to stop in Verona, accompanied on tour by a local guide with a deep knowledge of the millenary history of the city.
Regarding the glass, Verona is the Italian representative in the selected group of the Great Wine Capitals. It is no coincidence that for over half a century it has hosted Vinitaly, an event of global significance, and gives citizenship to some of the best wine varieties in the world.
To confirm this aspect, once you have left the city of Romeo and Juliet, the local sommelier appointed by Italy4Golf is going to accompany you to Valpolicella, home of wines known all over the world. Here, while visiting the winery selected for the tour, guests will bow their sense of smell and taste in the presence of His Majesty the Amarone. Once the presentations have been made at the court, it will be possible to play with the sensations that the wines reveal according to the cru, the blend and the vintage.
